Our friend Gabby told us that Lula’s Peruvian Restaurant opened up in her neighborhood, Tapestry Park, in Jacksonville, Florida so we had to meet her for dinner to give their food a proper review.
Being that Mena is from Peru, I have quickly become a Peruvian food aficionado so we were excited to hear that a new Peruvian restaurant opened up.
The neighborhood, Tapestry Park, is nice and super chill. Mena and I did not even know it existed but we will definitely be going back to check out the rest of the stores and everything else located there.
That being said, this review is all about Lula’s Peruvian Restaurant so let’s dive into all of the food that we tried.
Lula’s Peruvian Restaurant Food
Lula’s offers a fusion of Peruvian and Mexican food so their menu is quite extensive – the food ranges from Peruvian anticuchos and pollo a la brasa to Mexican street tacos and a mixture of ceviche from both countries.
Mena and I ordered what we typical order at Peruvian restaurants to keep it easy to compare and rate the food. Let’s take a look below at the dishes we ordered.
Chicha Morada
- Description: Purple Corn Drink with Pineapple, Apple, Cinnamon, Cloves, Sugar & Lime.
As I have stated before I am a huge chicha snob and Lula’s really made a great chicha morada – not too sweet and just the right amount of spices. It was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture before it was gone.

Papa a la Huancaina
- Description: (HUANCAYO, PERU) A creamy Spicy Huancaina sauce poured over slices of potatoes, garnished with black Peruvian olives and boiled egg on top. Served with lettuce.
The huancaina sauce had a good kick of spice and tasted delicious – I could’ve used a bit more potato to eat with the sauce but I will definitely be ordering this again when we go back.

Ceviche Clasico
- Description: (PERU) Your choice of Protein with red onion, sweet potato, jumbo kernel corn, corn nut and lettuce in a Traditional Peruvian sauce with aji limo.
The ceviche was definitely one of the best we’ve had up in North Florida – it was super fresh and had some nice heat with the rocoto pepper.
Tim
Anticuchos
- Description: (PERU) Beef Hearts marinated, Skewered and Seared. Served over top of potatoes, Side of lettuce and Jumbo Corn Kernels with Aji Anticuchero.
The beef hearts were tender and well-marinated – a great start to our meal at Lula’s. We even convinced Gabby to try it for her first time and she liked it.

Arroz Chaufa (Carne)
- Description: (PERU) Peruvian version of Chinese fried rice made with Steak, white rice, eggs, chopped onions, chopped bell peppers, ginger, and sesame oil.
Lula’s chaufa was on point with the others we’ve tried in Jacksonville, Florida – it will never beat Peru Wok in Jupiter, Florida but it is delicious and will definitely be something we order again and again.

Keep in mind that Lula’s Peruvian Restaurant just opened a week ago in Tapestry Park (Jacksonville, Florida) but their food is exquisite and the service was great. Everything we tried was delicious, including the chicha morada which is saying a lot because I am a chicha lover and it’s hard to find homemade chicha that is great.
Mena and I highly recommend trying out Lula’s Peruvian food as they offer traditional dishes that taste excellent. We will definitely be going back so that we can try the pollo a la brasa and lomo saltado. I do have one request for Lula’s, please offer a Peruvian dessert such as lucuma cheesecake or mousse and/or some sort of alfajores – I LOVE lucuma anything so that would’ve made our great dinner even better.

Lula’s Peruvian Restaurant Menu
Lula’s has a unique approach to their menus as they are all tablets that are placed at your table – this is a genius idea because if you need to add or change a menu item you can do so to all of them at once without having to reprint them.
