Ever wished that you could be sipping on a fresh craft beer or glass of wine while you wait in line for a Publix Sub? That time has come with the newly introduced Publix Pours Cafe & Bar, which is available at a few brand new Publix stores in Florida.
Mena and I are lucky enough to live 5 minutes from the Publix Pours Cafe & Bar in St. Augustine, Florida so it was only right that we headed there to check it out and see what all the buzz was about.
Let’s take a look at everything Publix Pours has to offer with a quick little review – keep in mind that this review is spread out over three different visits.
Publix Pours Beer
Our Publix has a separate entrance that brings you directly into the Pours Cafe & Bar area which is extremely nice – you really do feel like you are in a little cafe instead of being in a big supermarket.
While enjoying a craft beer or wine, you have the option to sit in the little cafe area (tap room) or at the bar – Publix really went out of their way to make it feel like you were hanging out at your favorite drinking spot.
If you’d like to enjoy your beverage while you do your grocery shopping, they do offer plastic cups for you to bring with you and a cup holder built into your cart – genius!
The beer that they have is impressive and I will say that the prices are great – every beer on tap is $5 and you either get a16oz pour or a 12oz pour depending on which beer you order. As far as the beer selection goes, I was expecting for them to only offer mainstream beer such as Bud Light but that is not the case at all. We were pleasantly surprised with the local craft beer being offered on tap.
If you’d like to try a few different beers then the flight is definitely the way to go. Publix Pours Cafe & Bar offers flights of 4 different beers of your choice for $8. During our last trip we decided to grab a flight to unwind after work, before we went and did our grocery shopping.
Lastly, Publix Pours also offers growler fills with their own branded growlers available to bring home and then bring back to refill – we have not tried this out yet but will soon!
Now that we’ve covered the basics of how the beer works at Publix, let’s take a look at all of the beers we’ve had at our local St. Augustine, Florida Pours Cafe & Bar:
Party Wave
- Brewery: Intuition Ale Works
- Type: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 6.2%
I have not been to Intuition yet but I decided that this Hazy IPA would be a good choice for my first beer at Publix Pours – this was a solid IPA and I’m definitely looking forward to visiting the brewery.

Spa Day
- Brewery: Fishweir Brewing Company
- Type: Sour Ale with Cucumber
- ABV: 5.2%
Our internet at home went out so we had to go to Publix to work for the day and this beer was excellent. After dealing with the stress of no internet at home and trying to work, this refreshing and light beer was the perfect pick-me-up.

Danger Zone
- Brewery: Fishweir Brewing Company
- Type: Double Hazy IPA
- ABV: 8.8%
Fishweir is one of our favorite breweries in Jacksonville, Florida so when I saw that it was on tap at Publix I had to get it. While it is a bit strong, this is an incredible hazy IPA that I will keep getting whenever available.

Send Me A PM
- Brewery: Southern Swells Brewing Co.
- Type: Sour Ale with Passionfruit & Mango
- ABV: 6%
Light and a bit tart, this sour was the perfect beer to drink after the strong hazy IPA that we had for the first beer in our flight.
Tim
Pumking
- Brewery: Southern Tier Brewing Company
- Type: Imperial Pumpkin Ale
- ABV: 8.6%
I am not a fan of pumpkin at all but Pumking has become a tradition when Halloween comes around – this is the only pumpkin beer I enjoy. October is right around the corner so I had to get this during our last trip to Publix Pours the other day.
Tim
Buzzin’ Bee
- Brewery: Veterans United Craft Brewery
- Type: Honey Rye Wheat Ale
- ABV: 6.3%
Mena enjoyed this beer but I wasn’t the biggest fan – I think the honey kind of threw me off. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good beer but not my favorite one in our flight.

Publix Pours Smoothies & Coffee
If you do not wish to have a beer or glass of wine, you can select one of their delicious smoothies that are made-to-order. Mena has tried out their smoothies on a couple occasions and really enjoyed them. Take a look at the ones she has tried below:
Tropical Smoothie
I love smoothies and especially when they are made of fresh fruit so I had to try one. I chose the Tropical Smoothie which was made of banana, strawberry, pineapple and coconut – just perfect for the hot summer. It did not disappoint and tasted amazing, can’t wait to try the other ones.

Pumpkin Smoothie
It’s that time of the year when the end of summer is approaching and Pumpkin season is already blooming everywhere with fall and Halloween decorations. Of course Publix had to step up with this amazing Pumpkin smoothie that had great taste if you really like pumpkin.

Need a caffeine fix before you shop til’ you drop at Publix? Stop by Publix Pours to order one of many different coffee options available. I still can’t wrap my brain around the fact that our local Publix has a full-fledged cafe and bar in it!
Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew Coffee
I am a sucker for a good cold brew coffee and Publix did not disappoint – this was great to sip on while working from the lounge upstairs at our local Publix.
Tim
I definitely recommend visiting a Publix Pours Cafe & Bar if you have one in your area as you will not be disappointed. Enjoy a nice cold glass of craft beer, wine, a smoothie, or a coffee before, after, or during your grocery shopping.
Keep an eye out for weekly deals too as they do have a happy hour and other events such as tap takeovers with local breweries.
