Barley & Pie Brewing Company is the newest craft brewery to hit North Florida and we were able to go for their soft opening to check it out and give them a proper review. The grand opening of Barley & Pie Brewing Company, located in Fleming Island, Florida will be held on June 1, 2024 at 11 a.m. and will have live music, special beer releases throughout the day, and sourdough pizza to chow down on while enjoying their craft beer.
The layout of the brewery is great and looks like it can accommodate quite the crowd. Once you enter you have the option to sit at one of the custom wooden tables and order from the QR code, go to the main counter to order, or head to the bar. I really like that they have three options for ordering both food and beer as I feel that will make the overall experience at the brewery an enjoyable one – nobody likes waiting 10 years in a line for beer!
In addition to the huge taproom, there is a giant shaded beer garden out front with fans to keep you cool. While we opted to sit inside for the A/C because it wasn’t too busy, if they do get too crowded inside then there is a ton of seating outside.
Let’s go ahead and take a look at our first visit to Fleming Island, Florida as we check out the brand new Barley & Pie Brewing Company.
Barley & Pie Brewing Company Beer
The variety of beer on tap is incredible at Barley & Pie Brewing Company. They’ve got sours, IPAs, a few lighter options as well as some darker stouts for those that crave the heavier stuff.
Below you will find the four different IPAs that we tried during our first visit – we will definitely be going back to try out the rest of the menu:
It’s Always Raining in Fleming Island
- Type: New England Hazy IPA
- ABV: 6.4%
This is clearly the winner of the 4 different IPAs we tried. Super smooth and super hazy – if you like this type of beer then you must try this as it is delicious.
Tim
FYM West Coast IPA
- Type: West Coast IPA
- ABV: 7%
Mena thought this was too strong but I love a good West Coast IPA and this was a solid beer. I will definitely be getting this again when we go back!
Tim
You Make Me Hazy IPA
- Type: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 5.8%
A little lighter than the first hazy we had but still a great beer – anyone that enjoys IPAs will feel right at home at Barley & Pie.
Tim
Tangerine Spite IPA
- Type: IPA with Tangerine Puree
- ABV: 6.3%
Our beer of the summer has officially arrived! We will definitely be going back to get a 4-pack of this once they have their grand opening and have them available to purchase!
Tim
Barley & Pie will also have a selection of beer cans to-go after their grand opening and the can artwork is super cool – I definitely recommend grabbing a 4-pack to bring home with you for the summer! In addition to 4-packs, Barley & Pie also offers crowlers of their beer as well – buy a 32oz of you favorite beer to take with you.
Barley & Pie Brewing Company Food
In addition to some amazing beer, Barley & Pie is serving up some homemade sourdough pizzas as well as a few appetizers and fried oreos. We decided to try out one of the pizzas and cheese curds which you can find below:
Margherita Sourdough Pizza
- Description: Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Pecorino Romano, Basil & Olive Oil
The pizza came out super quick and was quite nice – you really can’t get much fresher than what we had!
Tim
Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds
- Description: Real Wisconsin Cheese Curds with It’s Always Raining in Fleming Island Beer Batter. Served with Fancy Sauce.
Mena and I love cheese curds and these were some of our favorite – the batter was delicious and the fancy sauce was great to dip these juicy nuggets of cheese into.

Mena and I were lucky enough to get to go to Barley & Pie during their soft opening and were surprised at just how good everything was. We’ve definitely got a new brewery to bring friends and family to when they come up north to visit us. Ollie also fell in love with the logo because it has a dog and he is obsessed – as soon as merch is available we are going to have to buy him something.
If you are near the Fleming Island area of Florida then I definitely recommend stopping at Barley & Pie Brewing Company. Celebrate their grand opening with them in June 1, 2024 and prepare yourself for friendly staff, excellent beer and delicious sourdough pizza!
