While in Barcelona, Spain we stumbled upon BlackLab Brewhouse & Kitchen which was walking distance from our hotel so we had to go give them a proper review and Ollie was the star of the show.
Right from the moment Ollie walked up to the entrance, we were all greeted by the staff at the brewery and they were the most friendly people – I cannot express how amazing our experience was because they made Ollie smile the entire time.
The overall vibe of the brewery is lowkey and they had music on but it wasn’t too loud which is a plus. There was plenty of room in the tap room to sit and enjoy the beer and just relax – trust me we needed it after the previous 10 days of travel.
Now that we’ve got the introduction out of the way, let’s dive into the different beers that we tried.
BlackLab Brewhouse & Kitchen Beer
Mena and I love IPAs so we were excited to see quite a few different variations on tap. Don’t worry, if you are not into the hoppy beers, they do have a good variety that should please just about everyone.
Bushido
- Type: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 6%
If it says hazy then I am going to give it a shot and this was super smooth and just a great overall IPA.

Claudia
- Type: IPA
- ABV: 7%
Claudia was more of a West Coast IPA that we are used to in the U.S. and it was delicious.
Tim
Umbra
- Type: Dark IPA
- ABV: 6.5%
Our favorite of the night was this Dark IPA which to be honest, is a style of beer I am not familiar with but it was so smooth and incredible – I want to go back so I can get another one of these!
Tim
Dynamo
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 9.8%
We ended the night with this high-octane Double IPA but in all honesty it was just as smooth as all of the other beers – you’d definitely get in trouble with this one because it goes down entirely too easily for a 9.8% beer.

If we had a few more days in Barcelona then we would’ve definitely grabbed a few cans of beer from the to-go fridge as they had a great selection available.
Out of all of the breweries that we visited during our trip to Europe, BlackLab Brewhouse & Kitchen was by far our favorite. Not only did they have amazing beer and food but they entertained Oliver and were the most friendly staff we encountered – thank you to everyone that was working the night we visited!
If you are ever in the Port Vell or Barceloneta area of Barcelona, Spain, please go and give this brewery your business – you will not be disappointed!
