It’s finally time for our Los Andes Restaurant review as we have eaten at and ordered food for pick-up on several occasions. Every single time we get food from this Peruvian & Argentinian fusion restaurant we are blown away. This place 100% takes the top spot for our favorite Peruvian food in Jacksonville / North Florida and is among the top 5 that we’ve had in the entire state.
In this review we will go over every dish we’ve tried on our multiple trips to Los Andes which includes appetizers, entrees, juices and desserts!
Los Andes Restaurant Food
Los Andes offers a fusion between Argentinean and Peruvian food so you’ve got a great menu of items to choose from and I promise you that everything we’ve had has been delicious. The pollo a la brasa is definitely the best in North Florida which is why we continue to go back but all of the other food is exquisite as well.
Below you will find the food we’ve ordered during the times that we’ve ordered from Los Andes Restaurant whether it was dining in or ordering for pick-up:
Maracuya (Passion Fruit) Juice
Ollie and Mena love fresh maracuya juice and Los Andes has some of the best around town.
Tim
Ceviche
Sr. Ceviche still has the best ceviche in North Florida but Los Andes did a good job with this traditional Peruvian dish.
Tim
Tamales (Chicken)
I love a good tamal and this was delicious – I always hope I get the olive and pepper hidden inside!
Tim
Tamales (Pork)
The pork tamales was our favorite of the two – both were delicious but we definitely preferred the pork over the chicken.
Tim
Aji de Gallina
Mena makes this at home so we are tough on this dish when we order it out at a restaurant. I promise you that Los Andes makes an excellent version of this traditional Peruvian chicken dish.
Tim
Arroz Chaufa de Carne
Our absolute favorite chaufa will always be from Peru Work Cuisine in Jupiter, Florida but Los Andes takes a close second – I’d definitely recommend ordering this when you stop in!
Tim
Pollo a la Brasa
The hardest dish to find done well and Los Andes has hit it out of the park with their delicious chicken – it is super moist, seasoned just right and the aji verde sauce is the perfect sauce to dip it in.
Tim
Jalea Mixta
The last time we visited Los Andes I ordered the Jalea Mixta which is fried seafood and it was incredible – there was a bit too much salad on the plate but I won’t deduct points for that because the seafood was outstanding.
Tim
Tallarines Verde (Churrasco)
Excuse the picture as we ordered this to go and we almost devoured all of it before I realized we had not taken a picture for the review. Mena’s mom makes the best pesto sauce for this dish but Los Andes was pretty much on par with hers which is saying a lot – 10/10 would 100% get this every time we go from here on out.
Tim
Flan
Flan is not my jam but Mena ordered this dessert and said it was really good – if you are into this type of thing then Los Andes has a great flan for you.
Tim
Lucuma Cheesecake
I am not a huge sweets person so lucuma is definitely my favorite when it comes to Peruvian desserts. Los Andes makes an incredible lucuma cheesecake that is a must-try if you end up visiting this restaurant.
Tim
Aji Verde
Los Andes gives out this delicious green sauce when you order Pollo a la Brasa and it is exquisite. They sell jars of this stuff at the restaurant so of course I had to bring one home and I put it in a lot of food. (Aji Verde is a mixture of jalapenos, cilantro and mayonnaise.)
Tim
When it comes to traditional Peruvian food in North Florida, Los Andes Restaurant is definitely our favorite place to eat at. Llama Restaurant has incredible food but it is a little fancier so for date nights I’d go there but for a quick bite to eat or to order some Peruvian food to go, Los Andes is definitely the place to pick and that’s why it is our #1 spot in the Jacksonville – St. Augustine area!
