Intuition Ale Works has been on our list to review since we moved up to St. Augustine, Florida as they are in pretty much every grocery store up here and it is also on the Jax Ale Trail. Last weekend I was finally able to run to downtown Jacksonville and give Intuition a try.
Upon arrival at the brewery, I couldn’t help but notice the massive RISE Doro Apartment building that caught on fire on January 28, 2024 – it is pretty much backed up to the parking lot of Intuition Ale Works and the aftermath of the fire looks crazy. I did talk to the bartender at Intuition and he said they had to close for 8 days because they were in a debris zone which stinks because that’s 8 days of no business in their tap room.
Anyways, crazy apartment fire aside, let’s move on to talk about Intuition Ale Works, which has re-opened, as that is why you are truly here. Once I walked into the tap room, I was immediately shocked by how massive it is – this tap room is gigantic and has a full kitchen as well a super cool area that might not be expected at first.
Follow the signs to the elevator (or stairs) and you are taken to the absolutely incredible rooftop bar area. There is a full bar up top that is covered as well as a ton of seating that is outside, uncovered. The views, while just buildings and freeways, are awesome. I love that you can see the Jaguars stadium in the distance – this is definitely the place to go when you come to Intuition Ale Works to grab a beer or four, weather permitting of course.
While I did not get any food while I visited Intuition Ale Works, I did sample some of their beer so let’s dive into just exactly what I had.
Intuition Ale Works Beer
There is a great variety of beer on tap so that there will surely be something for everyone. I always love it when a brewery has a nice variety as long as they are solid and not just produced quickly to appease everyone.
Since I was solo on this trip, I decided to get one beer flight which consisted of four beers. Because I am an IPA addict, I went with four different IPAs and I must say, all of them were good, some better than the others, but all very good.
Below you will find the beer I tried and my thoughts on each one:
13th Anniversary IPA
- Type: Brett IPA
- ABV: 6.4%
I’ve only had one other Brett IPA in my beer-drinking career and I must say I kind of dig this. It is definitely different but Intuition knocked this one out of the park.

Credibility Gap
- Type: Cold IPA
- ABV: 7.5%
I still have no clue what a “Cold” IPA is as most of the beers I drink are, in fact, cold. This was my least favorite of the flight but still a good beer, just not the best.
Tim
Piano Key Necktie
- Type: Cold IPA
- ABV: 6.6%
Now this Cold IPA I can stand behind – this was a great beer that went down super smooth and I’ll definitely be trying it again next time I visit Intuition.

Business Papers
- Type: Triple New England IPA
- ABV: 9%
The heavy hitter of my flight certainly did not disappoint – great triple IPA that doesn’t feel like a 9% beer at all.

Of course, Intuition Ale Works also has beer to go if you are in a hurry and just need to grab a 4-pack to drink at home. The cooler is located right near the front door and is stocked full of great beer. I definitely recommend having beer on tap but if you can’t grab a 4-pack to share with friends or keep them for yourself, no judgment here.
If you are going to a football game to watch the Jaguars play or going to see a concert at the hockey arena, I definitely recommend a pit stop at Intuition Ale Works in downtown Jacksonville, Florida – the rooftop bar is incredible and the beer is outstanding!
