Mena and I just moved to the St. Johns area and of course our first task, after unpacking a million boxes, was to find a new brewery to try out. Upon doing a quick search on Google, we found Cultured Collective Brewing Co. and their menu looked promising.
After making our way out west, over the St. Johns River, we finally arrived at Cultured Collective Brewing Co. which was tucked away right off busy street – it’s definitely easy to miss so keep your eyes peeled.
Upon our arrival we absolutely loved the vibe as they had outdoor seating and the brewery was located in an open-air warehouse type garage – definitely a unique experience in relation to all of the breweries we’ve visited.
Now that we’ve got the intro out of the way it’s time to get into the beer that we had during our visit.
Cultured Collective Brewing Co. Beer
The selection of beer at Cultured Collective was excellent as they had something for everyone. Another point to make is that they do sell all of their beers in 4 oz. pours which is perfect if you are wanting to try a few beers before diving into a full pint.
Mena and I always get a flight if they are offered so we can try as many new beers as possible – we decided to order 2 flights to give 8 different beers a try.
Below you will find the different beers we tried during our first visit at Cultured Collective Brewing Co. in Orange Park, Florida:
It’s Globberin’ Time
- Type: Smoothie Sour with Tangerine, Orange, Marshmallow & Shortbread Pie Crust
- ABV: 5%
By far the best sour we tried at Cultured Collective – it tasted like an orange creamsicle and we all found it very refreshing!
Tim
Big Peepin’
- Type: Pastry Sour with Toasted Coconut & Marshmallow
- ABV: 6%
As much as we wanted to love this one it tasted more like a kettle sour and was just a tad too much for us to go back for more.
Tim
L.O.L.A (Left on Loring Ave)
- Type: New England Pale Ale
- ABV: 6.6%
Now we’re cooking with gas! This was our favorite beer of the day and this is one I’d definitely bring home to continue to enjoy outside of the brewery.
Tim
Sunnyvale Hazy Pale
- Type: New England Pale Ale
- ABV: 5.9%
This one was up there as well but drank more like a West Coast IPA than a pale ale and that’s 100% fine as we really enjoyed this beer.
Tim
Inflorescence
- Type: Double New England IPA
- ABV: 8.5%
This was a solid DIPA and was super smooth for being 8.5% but just could not take our top spot from L.O.L.A.
Tim
Blue Raspberry Seltzer
- Type: Hard Seltzer
- ABV: 5.5%
Seltzers are definitely a trend with all of the craft breweries and while some hit them out of the park, others kind of just fall flat. This was one of two seltzers we tried and it was just ok – I mean it adds some pretty color to your flight but that’s about it.
Tim
Fruit Punch Seltzer
- Type: Hard Seltzer
- ABV: 5.5%
See above for our thoughts on the seltzer trend – this was slightly better than the blue but not by much. Need. More. Fizz!
Tim
Into The Shadows
- Type: Imperial Oatmeal Stout
- ABV: 10.5%
Mena and I took a break from stouts after our haul from Arkane Aleworks but were excited to try one from Cultured Collective and it did not disappoint. This sucker is definitely strong but tastes delicious.
Tim
The to-go cooler had a couple different beers left from Cinco de Mayo and they also offer crowler fills of a few of their beers on tap. I’d like a bit more variety to go but they more than make up for it with all of the beers they have available on tap.
Mena and I will definitely be going back because we enjoyed the beer and overall atmosphere at Cultured Collective Brewing Co. – do you have a favorite beer from them? Let us know in the comment section below.
