I am confident in saying that Wicked Barley Brewing Company is the best brewery in Jacksonville, Florida. Mena and I have lived in St. Augustine for almost 2 months now and we’ve visited Wicked Barley multiple times.
If you are going on the weekend just know that there is bound to be a wait as it gets packed pretty quickly – despite having a massive tap room, outdoor beer garden, and little beach area, there will more often than not be a short wait for a table.
The wait has not stopped us though because this is 100% our new favorite place to go and have some amazing food, great craft beer, and enjoy the cool public dock and boardwalk that Wicked Barley has to offer.
Take a look at the sunset we enjoyed above during our first trip to Wicked Barley – I promise that you will love this brewery as it is definitely the most unique one we’ve ever visited.
Wicked Barley Brewing Company Beer
During our first visit we did get two flights to test out their beer and I must say none of them were bad – we did enjoy some more than others but every beer was pretty solid.
Let’s jump right into all of the different beers that we’ve had from Wicked Barley and then immediately following we will go over the amazing food we tried during our visits.
Banana Puddin’ Slushy
- Type: Hard Seltzer with Banana Syrup & Cream
- ABV: 8%
I was a bit hesitant to order a slushy during our first visit but holy crap this was delicious. Being in Florida it is hot, always, so this frozen treat hit the spot. Be warned these things are strong and we were feeling a buzz with quickness.
Tim
Blood Drive
- Type: Blood Orange IPA
- ABV: 6.3%
A solid flavored IPA that is great for the heat that summertime in Florida brings.
Tim
Jeans In The Pool
- Type: Strawberry Milkshake IPA
- ABV: 6.2%
I have a love/hate relationship with strawberry flavored beers as sometimes they taste like the medicine they numb your mouth with at the dentist. That being said, Wicked Barley did strawberries justice with this milkshake IPA – it was excellent!
Tim
Name Coming Soon
- Type: Tropical & Juicy New England IPA
- ABV: 6%
Civil Society is how I judge IPAs at other breweries and I must say this was really, really good – nice and refreshing and I’d definitely order it again.
Tim
I Wanna Be A Marshmallow
- Type: Imperial Sour with Marshmallow Fluff & Raspberry Puree
- ABV: 9%
This was our absolute favorite from our first trip to Wicked Barley – we had it in a flight and decided to get a regular pour as well.
Tim
Bob’s Wit
- Type: Belgian Wit Beer
- ABV: 5.1%
Typical Wit beer and definitely a go-to pick for the hot summer days if you want a light and refreshing beer.
Tim
We’re All Blue Inside
- Type: Blueberry Ale
- ABV: 5.6%
This was ordered to fill our flight and my history with blueberry beers is not that great to say the least. That being said, this was light and refreshing and definitely worth a try if they have it on tap when you visit.
Tim
Big Red Monkey
- Type: Imperial Red IPA
- ABV: 9%
If you like red IPAs then this is going to be your jam – definitely a great variation to have if you want to step away from the popular hazy IPAs.
Tim
The Eradicator
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8%
By the time I got to this on our flight I was stuffed from all of the food we had ordered and our multiple banana slushies so I will be honest and say that I have no clue how this was. Judging from their other IPAs I would say it was solid.
Tim
F#cking A
- Type: Session IPA
- ABV: 4.2%
One of their flagship beers and it is definitely a crushable session IPA that you could drink all day at the beach or out on the boat.
Tim
Orange Creamsicle Slushy
- Type: Hard Seltzer with Orange Juice, Cream & Vanilla
- ABV: 8%
We went back to Wicked Barley for Father’s Day and this time they had an orange creamsicle slushy – I didn’t think the banana one could be outdone but this one was amazing. I cannot wait to try their next slushy release as they come out with a new one frequently.
Tim
Blue Hawaiian
- Type: Imperial Cider with Toasted Coconut, Pineapple Puree & Blue Caracao
- ABV: 10.5%
Despite being more green algae in color, this drink was refreshing and absolutely delicious. I recommend grabbing one of these and going to the outdoor beach area while you wait for your table.
Tim
Kiwi, Do You Love Me?
- Type: Hard Seltzer with Kiwi Syrup, Lemon + Lime Juice, Pineapple Juice & Floater of Lo-Fi Amaro
- ABV: 8.7%
I decided that I wanted to be a bit fancy at brunch and ordered this hard seltzer cocktail and it was delicious. The slice of kiwi on top was a great touch even though by the time we got around to the picture it had disappeared to the bottom of the glass.
Mena
Take Me As You Please
- Type: New England IPA
- ABV: 6.7%
This was a new IPA that was offered on our second trip to the brewery and definitely my favorite out of the few we’ve tried.
Tim
The to-go cooler had a couple different beers left from Cinco de Mayo and they also offer crowler fills of a few of their beers on tap. I’d like a bit more variety to go but they more than make up for it with all of the beers they have available on tap.
Wicked Barley Brewing Company Food
Now that we’ve gone over all of the beer we’ve tried, let’s dig into the food that Wicked Barley offers because it definitely needs to be talked about.
The brewery offers a full kitchen and an extensive menu of gourmet food – everything we’ve eaten has been incredible. Also, we found out that on Sunday they offer a brunch until 4 p.m. and we are so glad we did – you will find the brunch items below as well.
Shrimp & Grits (Brunch)
Grits! I love grits and oh my goodness, the shrimp and grits were incredible – I am so glad we accidently arrived during brunch, which is until 4 p.m. on Sundays, because this dish was absolutely perfect.
Tim
French Toast (Brunch)
The flavor was extremely unique with all of the fresh fruit and the orange anglaise (sauce) and I absolutely loved it – this is my new favorite french toast!
Mena
Garlic Ginger Fries
There is A LOT of ginger on these fries but that didn’t stop me from completely devouring the entire plate – the super crispy fries with the garlic and ginger tasted great!
Tim
Left Leg Lager Cheese Curds
Mena and I are suckers for cheese curds and Wicked Barley did not disappoint – we ordered these again on our second trip because they are that good.
Tim
Buffalo Wings
We ordered our wings with buffalo on the side and to be honest, you could’ve had them with no sauce at all as they were extremely good – I dipped mine in buffalo sauce and it just made them that much better.
Tim
