Strings Sports Brewery has been on our list of breweries to review as they typically have Premier League games on their televisions every weekend – we’ve been looking for a place to watch fútbol (soccer) since we moved up to North Florida. Yesterday we decided to take a drive to the historic Springfield neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida to knock out three breweries on the Jax Ale Trail and this was our first stop.
When we arrived at Strings you could immediately tell from the outside that it is a huge brewery with tons of room inside as well as out back in their incredible beer garden.
Mena and I loved the fact that they could roll up all of their doors so that there was a nice breeze going through the entire brewery. Once we found a table for the three of us we decided to dig in and order some beer as well as food which we will go over below.
Before we get into the full review, check out a quick video of the tap room that I took before we ordered our food – as you will see in the video it is an awesome brewery with a ton of space and televisions to watch sports on.
Strings Sports Brewery Beer
Strings Sports Brewery has a great tap list with a wide variety of beers – there is surely something for everyone as far as the styles of beer offered.
I ordered a flight of four beers to try and enjoyed all of them equally. This was our first of four stops for the day so I went for all IPAs and one sour out of the gate to get started on the right foot.
Let’s take a look at the beer I tried while visiting Strings Sports Brewery:
Southpaw
- Type: Fruited Sour with Orange & Vanilla
- ABV: 5.3%
This was a great sour that was not too sweet and just the right amount of sourness – I needed this to break up the three hazy IPAs I also ordered.
Tim
Bullet Bob
- Type: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 6.3%
Not bad at all and a solid hazy IPA but definitely my least favorite of the day.
Tim
Hazy Hurley
- Type: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 7.5%
This is an excellent hazy IPA and I could definitely drink it again and again. Hopefully they will have this on tap most of the time because it will be my go-to if we start going to watch soccer games at the brewery.
Tim
One Six
- Type: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 7%
Yet another solid IPA and solidifies the fact that Strings can indeed make a good hazy!

Strings Street Fare
Strings has utilized their giant brewery space to include a restaurant, Strings Street Fare, on one side that is cooking up some absolutely incredible food. We knew that we needed to have food in our bellies before going to four breweries so we were thrilled that there was a full kitchen.
Let’s go over the food we ordered from Strings Street Fare while tasting a flight of beers at Strings Sports Brewery:
Jumbo BBQ Sandwich
Description: Pulled Pork or Smoked Brisket with Pickles, Pickled Red Onions & BBQ Sauce on a Brioche Bun
I ordered this pulled pork sandwich and had the spicy BBQ sauce on the side. Let me tell you that the pork didn’t even need the sauce – this sandwich, along with the pickled onions and pickles was incredible. Add the spicy BBQ sauce to the mix and this was one of the best pork sandwiches I’ve had.
Tim
Caesar Salad
Description: Chopped Romaine with Parmesan, Croutons & Homemade Dressing
The portion was perfect and the grilled chicken on top of the salad was very tasty.
Mena
Cheese Fries
Description: Fries Topped with Homemade Beer Cheese Queso
I mean how can you go wrong with fries drenched in a beer cheese queso sauce while sipping on some strong IPAs?
Tim
I’m super happy that we finally made our way to Strings Sports Brewery and look forward to visiting their second location when it opens. We will definitely be going back to watch some Premier League games while enjoying their great craft beer and tasty food.
About Strings Sports Brewery
“Originally built in 1938 as a service station, the building at 9th and Main reflects a bit of the Art Deco style of the times with its curved front windows. It sat empty until 2009, waiting for someone with the vision to return it to use. Now, Strings Sports Brewery is born!”
