Riverside Market and Cafe – Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Review)

Mena brought me to Riverside Market & Cafe a while back and I was amazed by this hidden gem in the middle of a neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At first I had no idea where we were going until we arrived and upon walking into this old school building, you are greeted with an atmosphere that is second to none.

If you are looking for a crazy selection of craft beer then Riverside Market and Cafe is where you want to go. They say that they invented the honor system and I must say it is great to see a business that can trust its customers. It’s no surprise that they have been dubbed “Fort Lauderdale’s Official Craft Beer Hangout”.

While visiting Riverside Market, you can go up to any of the beer coolers, grab a can, take a seat at one of the tables or the big couches and just enjoy your drink. Still thirsty after the first beer? Don’t worry, just go grab yourself another cold one out of the cooler, or try one of the few beers they have on tap, and have at it. 

Since Riverside Market & Cafe is more of a craft beer shop and not a brewery, they offer a wide variety of hard-to-find craft beers, bottles of wine, ciders, and hard seltzers – trust me there is something for everyone! Let’s take a look at the beer we’ve enjoyed at Riverside as well as the cans we’ve bought to-go.

Riverside Market & Cafe Craft Beer

Typically I will post beers with their can and then have the beer poured in a glass but at Riverside you just drink right from the can – I think you can ask for a glass but honestly just drink it from the can!

Flamingo Party Island

Mystic Brewe of Mardi Gras

• Brewery: J. Wakefield Brewing in Collaboration with Zony Mash Beer Project
• Type: Sour Fruited Berliner-Weisse with Passion Fruit, Orange Juice, Cherry Grenadine, Lime Zest, Lactose
• ABV: 8%

Lizzard Blizzard

• Brewery: 450 North Brewing Co.
• Type: Smoothie Pastry Sour with Cake Mix, Blood Orange, Lemon Drizzle
• ABV: 5.3%

Jurassic Planet 

• Brewery: Dream State Brewing
• Type: Triple IPA
• ABV: 10%

Holiday Who-Be What-ee

• Brewery: Tactical Brewing Co.
• Type: Sour Ale with Roasted Pistachios, Cream of Coconut, Vanilla
• ABV: 4.8%

Orange Chocolate Fondue

• Brewery: Tripping Animals Brewing Co.
• Type: Sour Ale with Cara Cara Orange, Cacao Nibs, Vanilla
• ABV: 6%

Riverside Market & Cafe Food

In addition to an insane selection of craft beers, Riverside also has a full kitchen, offering up some delicious food to soak up those 10% triple IPAs you are sipping on. We have only ordered a few items from the menu but they definitely hit the spot.

Don’t worry if you do not drink as Riverside Market also has a nice assortment of water, juice, milk and a good variety of soda as well!

Once you are done hanging out and enjoying the relaxed vibes at Riverside Market & Cafe, take your empties to the front counter and they will check you out. Yes, you heard me right, you drink your beers and pay at the end – hence the whole inventing the honor system saying on the outside of the building.
