Dream State Brewing – Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Review)

I have been following Dream State Brewing since they were announced on social media and was excited to hear they finally had a brewery to visit down in Ft. Lauderdale. Up until this retail location, you could only get your hands on cans of the impressive collabs that they were doing with some of the most popular breweries across the country. 

Dream State is located inside Sistrunk Marketplace, a food hall with various vendors offering up some amazing dishes. Parking can be a bit tricky but it is well worth the hassle to get your hands on some really good beer.

I know you all did not come here for me to talk about Sistrunk Marketplace so let’s dig into the different beers that Dream State Brewing offers.

Dream State Brewing Beer

The amount of taps available was impressive and I love the overall space theme of the brewery. That being said, Dream State Brewing only had three of their beers on tap, not including the collaboration with RAR Brewing, which I ordered but didn’t actually get to try because we were given a different beer, a perfectly fine mistake as the pina colada beer was delicious.

I was a little bummed out to see that there was only 1 lager and 2 pilsners on tap from Dream State but they did have several different options in cans to choose from and a ton of guest taps available. To be honest the beers we had at Sistrunk Marketplace went perfect with our food we ordered – it was a great experience overall.

UPDATE (April 2, 2023): Dream State Brewing had their grand opening on Thursday, March 30, 2023, and they now have a ton of their own beers on tap so we stopped by to try as many as we could. Below you will find the newly added beers we tried:

Grape Moon Soda

• Type: Grape Soda Berliner Weisse
• ABV: 6%

If you are looking for a grape Kool-Aid beer then this is 1000% for you – it is quite sweet but man did it bring back some childhood memories!

Space Ninja

• Type: New England IPA
• ABV: 6.2%

Yet another solid IPA from Dream State, so far every IPA we’ve tried from them has been exquisite!

Mango Moon Juice

• Type: Pastry Sour with Mango and Coconut
• ABV: 6%

We first tried their Pina Colada variation of moon juice and it was decent, this one is definitely better, not too sweet and not too sour.

Passion Fruit Moon Juice

• Type: Pastry Sour with Passion Fruit, Orange, Pineapple
• ABV: 6%

This will surely make your lips pucker as it is the most sour of the three moon juices we’ve tried – perfect beer for a hot day!

Wild West

• Type: West Coast IPA
• ABV: 7%

Mena and I are Hazy IPA nerds but I love a good West Coast IPA every now and then and Wild West from Dream State hit the spot.

Sweet Williams Banana Bread

• Type: Pastry Stout with Wild Thai Banana, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Molasses
• ABV: 12%

I’m not particularly fond of crazy high ABV stouts that are super boozy but this one is incredible. This stout is super smooth and not too sweet or boozy – I could definitely drink an entire bottle and then some of this bad boy.

Out of Order: Space Dreamin’

• Type: Orange Creamsicle Pastry Sour (Collaboration with RAR Brewing)
• ABV: 6%

The overall consensus of this milky concoction was that is was super bizarre. I enjoyed it but could not drink an entire can by myself as it is super rich and definitely drinks like a sweet, milky orange smoothie.

Here are the beers we had on tap last Saturday as well as the different cans we have tried from Dream State Brewing, outside of their location in Sistrunk Marketplace:

Moonlite

• Typ: German Pilsner
• ABV: 5%

The first beer we tried from Dream State Brewing was this German Pilsner and it was a good start to the day – Mena and I were super thirsty after walking around outside in the Florida heat with Ollie in his stroller.

Pluto Pils

• Type: German Pilsner
• ABV: 5%

Another pilsner for us and I must say we enjoyed this more than the first one, Moonlite. By this time we already had some food and this was an excellent choice to pair with our meal.

Dream Dream Dream

• Type: American Lager
• ABV: 4.5%

I mean, what can I say about this beer? It is light, refreshing, went well with our poke bowl and that’s about it. I would much prefer an IPA over a lager but this did the job on a hot day in South Florida.

Pina Colada Moon Juice

• Type: Smoothie-style Pastry Sour
• ABV: 6%

This sour was brought to us instead of Space Dreamin’, the collab with RAR Brewing, and I must say that I was not disappointed in this beer. It was a nice change of pace from the pilsners we had ordered beforehand – you definitely get pina colada vibes and this should 100% be consumed while at the beach.

Dream State Frose

• Type: Sour with Oranges, Sprite Soda, Sour Patch Kids
• ABV: 7%

I must admit I have obtained quite an addiction for Kings Brewing Company’s frose beers and this collaboration with Dream State Brewing was out of this world. Everyone at the party agreed that this was like drinking a mimosa – definitely one of my favorite sour beers I’ve ever had!

Jurassic Planet

• Type: Triple IPA
• ABV: 10%

I have recently converted my stepdad into a lover of IPAs and we both thoroughly enjoyed this triple – it was super smooth and while it had a little bite, you could not tell this was 10%. This beer can definitely get you into trouble if you don’t realize it is a 10% triple IPA – don’t bring multiple cans of this to drink all day at the beach!

Moon Wave

Type: Double IPA
ABV: 8%

Another incredible IPA from Dream State! We picked this up at Riverside Market & Cafe and what a way to end a long day of work. Both the Triple and Double IPAs we’ve tried have been solid – can’t wait to try some more!

Mena and I look forward to going back down to Sistrunk Marketplace and will continue to follow Dream State Brewing to see when they release new beers for us to try. I definitely recommend going down for the day to experience the whole marketplace vibe and try out some delicious beers – don’t forget to grab some Dream State cans to go and pick up some of their incredible merch.
