During our first day of the Jax Ale trail we visited Ink Factory Brewing and it’s finally time we posted our review from that day! From the outside the brewery looks gigantic but when you enter it is not as big as it looks from the outside – this is primarily because the second floor is a co-working space which is also owned by Ink Factory.
Mena and I loved the vibe of the tap room and you definitely feel like you are near the beach in Florida – vibrant colors and a little surf shop transport you to a happy, chill place. There are definitely enough places to sit at the bar or they have little rooms with couches and chairs where you can enjoy your drinks.
Let’s take a look at the different beer and snacks that we tried during our first visit to Ink Factory Brewing.
Ink Factory Brewing Beer
The amount of beers on tap at Ink Factory Brewing is impressive and there is a little something for everyone. I’d say the majority of the menu consists of sours and IPAs but there are a few lighter options as well as a stout or two for those that love dark beers.
Sampling everything on the tap list is a daunting task but luckily they offer beer flights to try out 4 beers at a time. We decided to go with three IPAs and a sour for our beer flight and then went back for a full pour of one of their milkshake IPAs before we left.
Below you will find all five beers we tried at Ink Factory Brewing:
Amalgamated Mind
- Type: New England IPA
- ABV: 6.8%
If you are looking for a solid IPA then this is right up your alley – everyone chose this as our second favorite of the day.
Tim
Cryo Palms (V2)
- Type: Double New England IPA
- ABV: 8.1%
Mena and Renato were done with IPAs once we got to this one so I had it solo and while it was a little boozy it was very good.
Tim
Triple Whip (V3)
- Type: Smoothie Sour with Pink Guava, Passionfruit, Mango, White Chocolate & Lactose
- ABV: 6.5%
This smoothie sour was our favorite and we even ended up grabbing a 4-pack to go, we liked it so much. I am looking forward to going back and trying out different versions of this because it was incredible.
Tim
Electric Beach
- Type: Hazy IPA
- ABV: 6.7%
This was a typical hazy IPA that was quite refreshing on a warm day in North Florida – this could definitely be crushed all day at the beach.
Tim
Nectar Shades
- Type: Milkshake IPA with Apricot, Peach & Lactose
- ABV: 7%
I’ve had a ton of milkshake IPAs and they are definitely hit or miss but this one was smooth and the fruit didn’t overpower everything – I’d definitely have this again!
Tim
As mentioned above, we ended up buying a 4-pack to go from the cooler in the brewery. Ink Factory has a nice selection that you can grab if you are on the run or just simply want to enjoy some of their delicious beer at home.
Ink Factory Brewing Coffee Shop
In addition to the brewery and co-working space, Ink Factory also has their own little coffee shop right next to the bar. Enjoy a nice variety of coffee to wake you up and give you more energy to try out all of the beers that Ink Factory has to offer.
The coffee shop also has a variety of baked goods – we couldn’t help ourselves and bought one of the blueberry muffins.
Ink Factory Brewing Surf Shop
Beer and coffee not enough for you? Take a stroll through the surf shop located in the brewery to satisfy your inner shopaholic – they have some cool merch so I definitely recommend checking it out!
If you are looking for a brewery with beach vibes and a chill atmosphere then Ink Factory Brewing should definitely be added to your list. I highly recommend stopping by if you are ever in the Jacksonville Beach area and cannot wait to go back again!
