I happened to hear about Grace Note Brewing, a new brewery in Jacksonville, Florida, yesterday from another brewery’s Instagram story. Upon further investigation I found out that they were having their soft opening this weekend so of course I had to go check it out and write up a review.
Mena wanted to stay home and get some chores done so I told her I’d take Ollie to check out the brewery. After a chat with her brother, we decided to leave Ollie at their house with his nieces and aunt while we drove to Windward Sadler Point Marina, where Grace Point Brewing is located.
Once we arrived we found our way to the brewery, which was a little hidden since they don’t have a big sign out front yet. I was surprised when we walked through the doors at how nice the tap room was. I love the music-inspired mural on the wall and the huge logo on a back accent wall.
We were immediately greeted by our bartender and she was super nice during our stay – it’s always a plus when you get great service on top of great beer which we will get into below.

While not gigantic, there is more than enough room in the tap room to fit a ton of people without feeling cramped. Renato and I decided to have a seat at the bar and dig into their beer menu.
They don’t have the fancy holders for a typical beer flight quite yet but they were offering 5 oz pours of all their beers which was perfect for us.
The variety of beers on their menu is impressive, given that they just opened their doors yesterday. During our visit today we managed to try all of their beers except for two – we left their porter and stout for another time as we were not really in the mood for the heavy dark beers. I will say that they do offer shots of nitro coffee on tap in any of their beers and having that in their stout is something I am excited to try in the future.
Let’s go ahead and dive into our review of all the beers we tried today at Grace Note Brewing:
Hoppily Edgar After
- Type: Fruit Beer
- ABV: 5.5%
This was our first beer of the day and it was light and refreshing – definitely a little hoppy with fruit added which makes sense because they say it is reminiscent of a sour IPA.
Tim
Common Time
- Type: Steam Beer with Malted Corn & Florida Orange Peel
- ABV: 4.8%
I honestly had no idea what a “steam” beer was but this was great. I’d definitely have this when we go back for our second visit so I hope they keep it on the menu.
Tim
Cut Time
- Type: Double IPA
- ABV: 8.2%
Renato and I are heavy into IPAs and this DIPA did not disappoint – Renato crowned this as his favorite of the day and I’d give it a tie for first place as I really enjoyed the kettle sour.
Tim
Perfect Pitch
- Type: New England Pale Ale
- ABV: 5.7%
Here is your crushable hazy pale ale that is great out in the hot Florida sun – goes down super smooth and I could sit back and drink these all day while watching football on the TVs in the brewery.
Tim
Da Capo
- Type: American Style Lager
- ABV: 5.3%
Easy-drinking and way better than the mass produced lagers you find on store shelves. If you are not into hoppy IPAs then this will surely be your beer of choice.
Tim
Berry Tone
- Type: Fruited Kettle Sour with Mixed Berries & Vanilla
- ABV: 5.7%
Kettle sours are hit or miss when it comes to being overly tart but Grace Note knocked this one out of the park. More fruity than tart but not too sweet – I could drink this one all day, one of my favorite kettle sours to date!
Tim
The Jam (Session)
- Type: English Style Bitter
- ABV: 4.1%
Another amazing beer! I absolutely loved this and much like the steam beer above, I really hope they keep this on the menu. It would be awesome to sip on one of these at the brewery while watching a football (soccer) game on one of their TVs.

After all of the beers we tried today, not one of them being bad, I am excited to see what Grace Note Brewing comes up with in the future. The overall vibe of the place is super chill and it’s definitely somewhere to escape and have a nice beer on draft.
